Tips for better CV pictures? Joo.
A new start? Joo.
Looking for a new job is an exciting time. There are so many opportunities in the job market, but also so many talented job seekers, including you of course. Your CV is the potential employer's first contact with who is applying for the job. The photo in particular is an important part of this first impression. It puts a face to the name and thus makes a better impression on the employer. We've put together some tips to help you stand out with your CV photo.
What kind of photo is suitable for a CV?
Make sure your photo is of good quality and your face is clearly visible. A CV is a document that includes a relevant and representative photo of yourself. It's not a passport photo, so it's OK to show off a smile.
How to dress for a CV photo?
The most important thing in a CV photo is your face, so it's a good idea to make sure that your clothes or accessories don't distract from your face. It is therefore best to avoid strong shapes and brand logos close to your face. Strong colours in clothing can reflect on your face, making your skin look pale.
For the photo, you can wear comfortable clothes that make you feel confident. However, it's important to remember that a well-fitting garment will make the person look even better, if possible.
Straighten your hair and posture
For CV photos, it's a good idea to look presentable. Just before the photoshoot, make sure your hair is well done and your make-up is on point. Powder and hairspray can be overdone, as the flash can easily highlight shiny skin.
If you have pets, a good tip is to bring a tape brush and clean the hair off your clothes before taking the photo.
You can practise posing in front of a mirror at home and what kind of posture and smile is natural for you. Your photographer will guide you on how to pose in a presentable way, but practising beforehand will give you confidence.
Good luck with your job search!
