What is Lamminrahka like to live? Read about Sanni's experience.
– On my moving day, I remember carrying a Christmas tree and my first belongings into the apartment, nearly crying and laughing at the same time. I kept thinking, I'm here now, this is my home, I'm home, says Joo Kodit resident Sanni Mäkeläinen.
Sanni moved into our Kangasalan Kuningatar apartment complex with her two children and two cats as soon as it was completed in December 2023. The family has felt right at home from day one.
The neighbourhood is called Lamminrahka and it's located on the border of Tampere and Kangasala. Sanni says she chose the family's new rental apartment mainly because of the Lamminrahka area, the wonderful finishings of the apartment, and the €0 deposit. In the end, Joo Kodit’s pet-friendliness sealed the deal:
– The fact that pets are welcome was crucial for me. We have these two cats, and I wouldn't go anywhere without them.

Interior design that celebrates colour
When Sanni needed to move because of a life change, she decided to make the new home truly her own by boldly incorporating colours and delightful details. She describes the apartment as her little sweet shop. She even found a pink microwave after searching high and low for one.
– Whenever I come up with an interior design idea, I have to see it through. If I don't, I can't get over it.
Home sweet home in Kangasala
Having previously lived in a large detached house, Sanni says the new apartment is perfect for their family.
–Even though 53 square metres isn't huge, everyone has their own room, which is why I love this layout so much. You can be in your own room if you need some peace and quiet, but you also have the shared living space for hanging out together.
In the detached house, it felt like there was so much space that people and things got lost, but here the family spends more time together. Plus, moving to a smaller home has made cleaning wonderfully easy.
– Vacuuming alone used to take three hours, and now it's so much quicker!
The new Lamminrahka neighbourhood is ideal for families with children
The recently opened Lamminrahka school is just a 2-minute walk from Kangasalan Kuningatar. Sanni can see her daughter from the balcony as she walks to and from school, and the family enjoys the lovely play area in the yard.
– The number of students in the school is quite small, making the transition to a new school smoother.
The cats have also found their favourite spot in the apartment. They love lying on the sofa cushions and keeping an eye on everything that goes on outside the window.
Spending time with neighbours adds to the fun
According to Sanni, the atmosphere in the apartment complex is fantastic. There's another family with children the same age, and the families often get together. The children like to play in the inner courtyard, where small football goals have been set up. It's a safe place for the kids to hang out on their own, too, since it's only accessible with a key.
The carefree nature of rental living is a big plus
Sanni has rented most of her life, but she has also lived in a detached house and a right-of-occupancy apartment. She likes the fact that renting is carefree.
– Of course, I understand that owning your home builds equity, but there are lots of ways to save and invest. You can still put money aside for retirement or come up with something else that suits you.
Living with Joo Kodit has been easy and hassle-free for Sanni. If anything unexpected happens, the customer service and maintenance are there to help. The support is great, she says, and she always gets quick answers to her questions. Having previously lived in a detached house, Sanni is relieved that the apartment complex takes care of gardening, snow clearing, and gritting.
– It's been easy and carefree here, and I think that's exactly what I need right now.
